Stampede to Read!

The Roberts Conservatory of Dance in Ravenna collaborated with the Reed Memorial Library to produce a promotional video, “Stampede to Read”.  Dance students rehearsed and donated two Sundays to filming the video.  Carolyn Roberts and Leslie Oberholtzer of the dance studio choreographed and directed the work, while library director Cass Owens filmed and edited.  Singer/songwriter Monty Harper (readingsongs.com) allowed use of his original song.

The video shows the young people enjoying books, movies, computers, puppets and magazines inside the library. Click here to view the video

We Have Mango!

...and, we aren't talking about the fruit. Mango is an online language-learning system that helps you learn any of many popular (and not so popular) foreign languages. Mango is completely web-based and remotely accessible, so you can access it anywhere you are online – at home, in the library, from a café – wherever!

Mango's methodology includes all four key-language components (vocabulary, pronunciation, grammar and culture) and integrates strategically placed memory building and critical-thinking exercises to help you remember and adapt what you learn.

With a variety of interactive tools and a rich visual interface, Mango makes the learning process exciting. You will develop real, usable conversation skills after just one lesson, and be encouraged to keep going based on your progress.   Click the graphic below for a brief video describing how Mango can help you gain proficiency in a foreign language.
