Dale Pennell Fosnight (1923 - 2006)
Dale Pennell Fosnight, of Ravenna, died Monday, May 15, 2006 at Akron City Hospital. He was born June 10, 1923 in Ravenna to the late James Vern and Dorothy (Pennell) Fosnight. Dale graduated from Ravenna High School in 1941, and entered the military service shortly afterward serving in the US Army during WWII in Europe. After the war he attended Kent State University and received his bachelors degree in business administration. Dale married Eleanor Davis in 1950. They have five children. He served on many community and civic organizations, including the Ravenna United Fund (later the United Way of Portage County), served on the organizing committee for the Ravenna Boys Club (now the Boys & Girls Club), Vice President for the Portage County Division of the Akron Regional Development Board, and served as a member and President of the Ravenna Board of Education.. Dale was inducted into the Ravenna High School Hall of Fame in 1997. He was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church in Ravenna, Ravenna Kiwanis, Portage County Historical Society and the Ravenna Heritage Association. Professionally, Dale was employed since 1946 by the Chamberlin Engineering Corp. and its successor companies US Stoneware Co., Norton Company and Colonal Rubber Co. where he served as President since 1971.
